3A Region III District 24 recap September 24, 2013
Dorland Fields of Sweeny ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Region III District 24 this season against Bellville last week. Fields scampered for 83 yards on the play and finished with 234 on the day as his team fell to the Brahmas.
Sweeny scaled the state rankings by moving to 478 from 536 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Paul Kilby's team climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Bellville 35-21.
Columbia's Jarius Kesee and Brandon Harris have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kesee has thrown for 341 yards this season, while Harris has 7 catches for 117 yards. The Bulldogs' Fields leads the league in rushing yards with 679.
Sweeny made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,601 from 5,271. The improvement came about via a 35-21 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
