The Escambia Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Crestview Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escambia will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Escambia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Pensacola 46-6 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Gators' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Tigers are ranked 346th).
Escambia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Billy Dunn, who threw for 244 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 93 yards on only 11 carries. Dunn's passing game has become a key predictor of the Gators' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Cashon Downs was in the mix too, providing Escambia with three scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Escambia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Escambia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off seven passes before the game was over. Dunn led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. Jadyn Minor also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.
Meanwhile, Crestview never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past Navarre to the tune of 41-0. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 34-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders had no chance of recovering from.
Crestview's win came from a few key players Escambia will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zy Tassin, who rushed for 85 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 43 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Che'Shon Cobb, who rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown.
Crestview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.5 points over those games. As for Escambia, their record is now 3-4.
Escambia came out on top in a nail-biter against Crestview when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 23-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
