The Harlandale Indians had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came out on top against Medina Valley by a score of 49-42. Given Harlandale's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Medina Valley is ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cascia Sandoval continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Marissa Ortiz, who scored 13 points.
Harlandale is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Medina Valley, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harlandale will take on Southwest Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Medina Valley, they will be playing at home against McCollum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McCollum has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 765 points over their last 12 games.
