The Roselle Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Dayton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dayton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Roselle, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Roselle didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Roselle Park, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win.
Roselle's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jodarsen Pierre, who posted 21 points and five assists, and Zaire Hopson, who earned 14 points along with eight boards and five assists. Pierre continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Puryear, who put up eight points.
Meanwhile, Dayton played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Johnson and fell 60-26. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Crusaders are ranked 64th).
Roselle will need focus on slowing down Preston Benjamin, one of several Dayton players who made an impact when they last played. He had eight points. The dominant performance also gave Benjamin a new career-high in steals (two). Nate Goldman was another key player, putting up seven points.
Roselle is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Everything came up roses for Roselle against Dayton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the squad secured a 76-40 victory. In that contest, Roselle amassed a halftime lead of 44-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
