It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Westview Warriors can now relate to. Their tough 54-32 defeat to the Eagles on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Westview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Eagles are ranked 151st).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JJ Whetstone, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whetstone has scored all season. Hope Bortner was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Westview has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Fremont, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-8.
Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fremont won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Central Noble has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
