Football Recap: Guilford Skates Past Stamford with Ease

The Guilford Grizzlies took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 44-7 victory over the Stamford Black Knights.

Guilford had a senior duo take command as Aiden Ruotolo gained 189 total yards and two touchdowns and Alex Tafro threw for 166 yards and two TDs on only 14 passes. Ruotolo is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 109 every time he's taken the field this season.

Guilford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 197 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

One reason for the win was Guilford's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Bryce Perry, Chase Hall, and Zisis Vasiliou, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Guilford now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Stamford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guilford will challenge Foran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stamford, they will take on McMahon at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
