The Platte Valley Broncos suffered their closest loss since January 11th on Saturday. They fell just short of Fort Lupton by a score of 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Platte Valley still got an impressive performance from Braylon Edstrom, who scored 25 points along with two steals. That was a full 41.7% of Platte Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Regan Edstrom was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Fort Lupton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shane Callahan, who scored 20 points along with two blocks. Callahan hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Gonzales, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Platte Valley has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Fort Lupton, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Platte Valley will take on Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Platte Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for Fort Lupton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Weld Central at 7:00 p.m. Fort Lupton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 games -- so hopefully Weld Central likes a good challenge.
