Lake Station Edison and Boone Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but not for long. The Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Boone Grove Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Station Edison is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Lake Station Edison's game on Saturday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Washington Township by a score of 52-49.
Despite the loss, Lake Station Edison got a solid performance out of Areion Head, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Head also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Davon Jones, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Boone Grove came up short against North Judson-San Pierre on Saturday and fell 51-42.
Jack Stevens put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Corey Noonan, who scored 15 points.
Boone Grove struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lake Station Edison's record now sits at 1-16. As for Boone Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lake Station Edison have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Boone Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Lake Station Edison against Boone Grove when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 79-47 victory. With Lake Station Edison ahead 42-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
