The Minneola Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Hodgeman County on the road and fell 61-32. Minneola has struggled against Hodgeman County recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Minneola had strong showings from Braegen Shelor, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Maiya Shelor, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Minneola struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hodgeman County racked up 19 assists.
Leading Hodgeman County to victory were Morgan Ruff and Taylor Bamberger. Ruff scored 11 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Bamberger scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Ruff posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Blake Dansel, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Minneola's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7. As for Hodgeman County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Minneola and Satanta will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Satanta is ranked 246th, while Minneola is ranked 241st).
