Softball Recap: Essex Sets Scoring Season-High Against Colonial Beach

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Essex). They put the hurt on the Colonial Beach Drifters with a sharp 25-14 win on Thursday. Considering the Trojans have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Essex got a massive performance out of Makiryn Williams, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenedi Campbell, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Essex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .811. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .524 that Colonial Beach posted.

The victory made it two in a row for Essex and bumps their season record up to 6-9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Colonial Beach, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Essex will be playing at home against Lancaster at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Colonial Beach, they will head out on the road to challenge West Point at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
