Meanwhile, West Muskingum got the win against New Lexington on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-5. Considering the Tornadoes have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mak Ritchey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Ritchey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Calie Smith, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Peyton Brown was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
West Muskingum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 11-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
West Muskingum is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Philo, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
