Football Recap: Wethersfield Extends Winning Streak to Five

Wethersfield had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the RHAM Raptors as they made off with a 41-16 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Raptors are ranked 145th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wethersfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daymian Rogers led the charge by rushing for 75 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Isaiah Edwards was in the mix as well, providing the Eagles with one score.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Wethersfield, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Luis Garcia, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Wethersfield's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for RHAM, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Wethersfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for RHAM, after both having extra time off, they and Bacon Academy/Lyman Memorial will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 12:00 p.m. on the 26th.
