In what's become a running theme this season, the Bishop Verot Vikings gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Community School of Naples with a sharp 61-35 win. The win was nothing new for Bishop Verot as they're now sitting on six straight.
Bishop Verot's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerry Ashley, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Ashley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played. Gavin Williams was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with three steals.
Bishop Verot's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Community School of Naples, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Verot will face off against First Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, Bishop Verot a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Community School of Naples, they will head out on the road to challenge Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lely will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while Community School of Naples is ranked 235th).
