It was a good run, but the Pius X Thunderbolts unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Lincoln North Star 67-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pius X came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Navigators are ranked 106th).
Despite the loss, Pius X still got an impressive performance from Treyson Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Michael Haith was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Lincoln North Star's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Castor, who scored 21 points along with five steals. Castor hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lazerek Houston, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals.
Pius X's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Lincoln North Star, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Pius X will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha Northwest is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. As for Lincoln North Star, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Burke is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
