West Point is 0-9 against Tolleson since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 3:45 p.m. West Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Monday just wasn't the day for West Point's offense. They came up short against Apollo on Monday, falling 10-0.
West Point saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Lopez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Tolleson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Jackrabbits 14-1. Considering the Wolverines have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
ISSAK VALDEZ made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. VALDEZ was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Tolleson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JOSE CORRALES, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Tolleson is undefeated when CORRALES posts three or more RBI, but 9-11 otherwise. ANTHONY OROZCO was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Tolleson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
West Point's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Tolleson, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Tolleson's pitching crew better be locked in on Tuesday. West Point hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. It's a different story for Tolleson, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep West Point in the park?
West Point came up short against Tolleson in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 5-1. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
