After flying high against the Battle Mountain Huskies last Tuesday, the Eagle Valley Devils came back down to earth. Eagle Valley took a 58-42 bruising from the Warriors on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eagle Valley in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost seven in a row.
Eagle Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josie Fitzsimmons, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reef Kenney, who scored 13 points.
Krystyna Manzanarez was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five steals and two blocks for Grand Junction Central. Manzanarez hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Brynn Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Eagle Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Grand Junction Central, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-8.
Eagle Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Palisade focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Thursday. As for Grand Junction Central, they will head out on the road to square off against the Red Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Montrose focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
