It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wills Point Tigers can now relate to. They fell 27-20 to Van Alstyne on Friday. Wills Point has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Wills Point still got an impressive performance from Jett Fletcher, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Van Alstyne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Weston Johnston out in front who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Van Alstyne also got help from Brayden Miller who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.
Wills Point has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Van Alstyne, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Wills Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Van Alstyne will square off against Carthage at TBD on Friday. Carthage has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 452 points over their last ten matches.
