The Bridgeton Bulldogs lost to the Barnegat Bengals back in January of 2018, but the Bridgeton Bulldogs didn't allow the Barnegat Bengals the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Bridgeton narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Barnegat 51-48.
Bridgeton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zikwon Anderson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Anderson has scored at least 25% of Bridgeton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameel Purnell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Bridgeton's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Barnegat, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Bridgeton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wildwood at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Wildwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. Barnegat's road trip will continue as they head out to face Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
