Section 5 City-Catholic recap October 8, 2013
Malik Herring of Marshall/Charlotte ran for the longest rushing play in Section 5 City-Catholic this season against Edison Tech/Monroe last week. Herring's team beat the Inventors as he sprinted for 55 yards on the play and finished with 262 in all.
East/School of the Arts/Dr. Thomas moved up to 160 from 205 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Orientals climbed the ranks as a result of besting Wilson Magnet/School Without Walls 36-16.
Marshall/Charlotte's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Jurists feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Alex Nazario has thrown for 80 yards this season, while Denzel Brown has 2 catches for 55 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when East/School of the Arts/Dr. Thomas takes on Franklin/Jefferson. As it stands, Paul Brigandi's team is in first, while the Quakers are in fifth.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 5 City-Catholic this week, the Orientals beat the Wildcats 36-16. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
