Russell County dropped their record down to 14-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Logan County Cougars by a score of 17-16. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lakers of the 10-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Logan County, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

For Logan County's part, EJ Walker was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Walker has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lyndon Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Russell County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-6 victory against Cumberland County on the 22nd. As for Logan County, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Todd County Central on the 21st.
