Baseball Recap: Terry Sanford Wins Going Away Against Overhills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Terry Sanford). Everything went their way against the Overhills Jaguars on Tuesday as the Terry Sanford Bulldogs made off with a 17-2 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Jonathan Pate tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Josh Mozingo was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Walker, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Terry Sanford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Terry Sanford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Overhills, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-3.

Terry Sanford will have a chance to go back-to-back against Overhills: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
