If the Lakeland Chiefs were riding high off their 61-26 takedown of the Lackawanna Trail Lions last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lakeland fell just short of Honesdale by a score of 49-47. Lakeland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Honesdale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Lakeland lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chase Rosenkrans, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Billy Hazelton, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Honesdale, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Lakeland will be home for the holidays to greet Wyoming Area at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Honesdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunmore at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
