The Maine-Endwell Spartans will take on the Oneonta Yellowjackets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Maine-Endwell took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Windsor Central get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tessa L'Amoreaux and Olivia Virgil were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, L'Amoreaux didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Virgil pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. L'Amoreaux has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, L'Amoreaux went 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI, while Virgil went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Virgil's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Hurba, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabel Hunter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Maine-Endwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windsor Central only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, Oneonta posted their closest victory since April 16, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-13 win over Bainbridge-Guilford.
Maine-Endwell pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oneonta, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Everything went Maine-Endwell's way against Oneonta in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, as Maine-Endwell made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
