Hillcrest is 3-0 against Molina since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hillcrest Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Molina Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hillcrest posted their biggest win since December 21, 2023 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sunset 80-23 on the road. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 518th, while Sunset is ranked 1248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillcrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jed-ethan Nansha, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Laterrance Potter, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Molina's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They skirted past Sunset 47-44. The victory was just what Molina needed coming off of a 78-51 defeat in their prior game.
Hillcrest's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Molina, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15.
Everything came up roses for Hillcrest against Molina in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 76-42 win. Does Hillcrest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Molina turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
