Del Norte is 0-10 against Bernalillo since June of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Del Norte has given up an average of 15.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Del Norte is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 23 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Manzano on Monday. They came up short against the Monarchs, falling 17-2.
Meanwhile, Bernalillo made easy work of Hope Christian on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 victory. Considering the Spartans have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Calandria Montoya was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matchups.
In other batting news, Aasia Duran was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Perez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Bernalillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hope Christian only posted an OBP of .231.
Bernalillo pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Del Norte, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Del Norte might still be hurting after the 24-1 loss they got from Bernalillo when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
