After three games on the road, Johnson is heading back home. They will take on the Liberty County Panthers at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Johnson is ranked 131st, while the Panthers are ranked 133rd).
Johnson pushed their score all the way to 76 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 83-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Long County.
Johnson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Quarterman, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and ten rebounds, and Favion Kirkwood who scored 28 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 36.8% of Johnson's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Liberty County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Savannah Christian and snuck past 46-43.
Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Liberty County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Johnson came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 36-33. Will Johnson repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
