Callaway is 0-3 against Warren Central since August of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Callaway Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warren Central Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Callaway will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Warren Central is ranked 11th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Callaway had to settle for a 18-16 loss against Vicksburg.
Meanwhile, Warren Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against Neshoba Central as Warren Central made off with a 27-3 victory. The result was nothing new for Warren Central, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Warren Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eric Collins Jr. led the charge by rushing for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Zack Evans, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Callaway now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Warren Central, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Things could have been worse for Callaway, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 24-6 loss to Warren Central when the teams last played back in November of 2016. Thankfully for Callaway, Demarcus Jones (who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
