Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Colebrook Academy's Winning Streak

Colebrook Academy dropped their record down to 8-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Moultonborough Academy Panthers by a score of 7-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-8 back in April.

As for Moultonborough Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

For Moultonborough Academy's part, the team relied heavily on Lauren Grinavic, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Grinavic a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Nagle, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Colebrook Academy will challenge rival Woodsville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mohawks 3.8, the Engineers 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Moultonborough Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Lin-Wood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
