Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Hot Springs Bison walked away with it. They strolled past Rapid City Christian with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-10. Winning may never get old, but Hot Springs sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Hot Springs had a senior duo take command as Camron Maciejewski rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry and Braden Peterson rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Peterson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Another reason for the win was Hot Springs' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Aidyn Janis and Caleb Rickenbach who racked up five sacks between them.
Lars Kieffer and Simon Kieffer certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Kieffer picked up 123 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Kieffer threw for 231 yards and a touchdown on only 18 passes.
Hot Springs' win was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.3 points per game. As for Rapid City Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Hot Springs will head out on the road to face off against Elk Point-Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Elk Point-Jefferson is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. Rapid City Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
