The Joshua Owls will venture away from home to challenge the Burleson Elks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Joshua was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Everman on Tuesday. The Owls' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 19-0 shutout. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.
Serenity Vaught was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Zaylee Masters was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Molly Young was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Burleson entered their tilt with Centennial on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 5-1.
Ryan Hovland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
At the plate, Daelyn Gonzales was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lanie Bedwell, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Burleson's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Joshua, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Joshua couldn't quite finish off Burleson in their previous matchup back in March and fell 6-4. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
