There's no place like home for the Allatoona Buccaneers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 68-60 win over Calhoun on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Calhoun's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emaree Winston, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Winston hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Streete, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
The win got Allatoona back to even at 9-9. As for Calhoun, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Allatoona will face off against Rome at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun, Calhoun and Cartersville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Cartersville is ranked 320th, while Calhoun is ranked 331st).
