Softball Recap: Elmira Wins Going Away Against Pleasant Hill

Elmira won against Creswell on Tuesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Falcons blew past the Pleasant Hill Billies 15-6. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Morgan Milbrett looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

At the plate, Emily Weston and Layla Burgess did most of the damage at the plate: Weston went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Burgess went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Weston has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Hansen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Elmira kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Elmira pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Hill, they moved to 4-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Elmira beat the Billies by a score of 22-7 later that day.
