In what's become a running theme this season, the Sahuaro Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 54-19 victory over Canyon del Oro. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Sahuaro has posted against Canyon del Oro since March 3, 2021.
It was another big night for Cassandra Coolidge, who scored 21 points along with five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Sahuaro's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Biale Sika, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Canyon del Oro lost, one person who can't be blamed is Halie Fuller. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks. Fuller has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Kunze, who scored six points along with two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Sahuaro and bumps their season record up to 16-6. As for Canyon del Oro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sahuaro and Salpointe Catholic will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Salpointe Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 221 points over their last three contests. As for Canyon del Oro, they will head out on the road to face off against Catalina Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Catalina Foothills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
