On Saturday, Monroe-Woodbury was the victim of a tough 74-50 loss at the hands of Green Tech.
Monroe-Woodbury's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nicolas Sanchez, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds, and Kyle McDermott who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. McDermott continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Christopher Pearson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Indavier Barnes, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was U'Mier Graham, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Monroe-Woodbury's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Green Tech, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-6.
Monroe-Woodbury will head out on the road to square off against Newburgh Free Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Newburgh Free Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Monroe-Woodbury is ranked 41st). Green Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
