The third road match was the charm for the Franklin Academy Panthers, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took down Somerset Academy Central Miramar 62-46 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Franklin Academy also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Franklin Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Guishard out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guishard also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Alicot, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Somerset Academy Central Miramar's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Auguste, who scored 16 points along with four steals, and Joshua Petit who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Petit has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanni Gordan, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Somerset Academy Central Miramar struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Franklin Academy posted 13 assists.
Franklin Academy's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. As for Somerset Academy Central Miramar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Franklin Academy will head out on the road to face off against Sheridan Hills Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sheridan Hills Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. Somerset Academy Central Miramar will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on International Studies at 4:45 p.m. on January 25th.
