Baseball Recap: Cibola Beats West Mesa for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Cibola entered their tilt with West Mesa on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went their way against the West Mesa Mustangs as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Cibola let Jacob Segotta and Daniel Kean run wild. Segotta went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Kean went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That triple marked the first that Segotta hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Chee, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Cibola always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Cibola pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Mesa, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cibola will head out to square off against Eldorado at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Eldorado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season. As for West Mesa, they will face off against Bernalillo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Mesa has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
