Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ocean City). They blew past the Mainland Regional Mustangs 17-4 on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won six games in a row.
Jessica Mooney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Leah Catto was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlee Hiddemen, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Ocean City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Ocean City pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mainland Regional, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
