The West Columbus Vikings waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They secured a 59-53 W over East Columbus. That result was just more of the same for these two, as West Columbus also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Unique Kelly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of West Columbus' points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Watts-Brown, who scored 12 points.
Despite the defeat, East Columbus had strong showings from Jaden Troy, who scored 16 points, and Cainan Patrick, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Jvon Junious was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
West Columbus has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for East Columbus, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Columbus will face off against East Bladen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (East Bladen is ranked 314th, while West Columbus is ranked 308th). As for East Columbus, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pender at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
