There's no place like home for the Plant Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past Tampa Bay Tech 48-25. Given Plant's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Tampa Bay Tech is ranked 327th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plant found their leader in underclassman Jazlyn Bowman, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Sanae Graham, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Tampa Bay Tech still got an impressive performance from Azjannie Culberth, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Culberth is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Hartley, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Tampa Bay Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Plant racked up 14 assists.
Plant's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.42 points. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plant won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Alonso at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Tampa Bay Tech won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sickles at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Sickles is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.7 points per game.
