Fleming County is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Catholic is on a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Fleming County Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Catholic Crusaders at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Fleming County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Catholic likes a good challenge.
Even though Russell scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Fleming County still came out on top. Fleming County strolled past Russell with points to spare, taking the game 72-58. Given Fleming County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Russell is ranked 152nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Cristo Rey scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, Catholic still came out on top. Catholic took down Cristo Rey 77-59.
Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Thorne, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Thorne has scored at least 25% of Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Pissis, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Fleming County's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
