Johnathan Ortner and Alex Smith provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Holmes County. The longest such play in 1A District 3 this season, the connection resulted in 71 yards.
Blountstown added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Chipley, 14-13. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Tigers.
South Walton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ortner threw for 434 and 4 touchdowns and Smith had 186 yards receiving. On the ground Zack Reese chipped in 147 yards. Sage Roberts helped South Walton's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 107 yards.
He was 23-36 with 1 interception.
Reese was the best running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 147 yards as the Seahawks beat the Blue Devils. Ortner also contributed to the rushing game with 60 yards on the ground.
South Walton's Ortner and Roberts led 1A District 3 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Ortner has thrown for 1,777 yards this season, while Roberts has 44 catches for 664 yards. kobe mccary from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 954 yards.
Chipley's mccary needs only 46 yards against Bozeman next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 111 carries mccary has put up 954 yards this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Holmes County takes on Blountstown. The Blue Devils are currently in fifth, while Greg Jordan's team is in first.
The Tigers and Chip Harris' team played the closest game in the league this week, with the Tigers eventually emerging with a 14-13 victory. Hunter Jordan threw for 99 yards and 1 touchdown, ran for 37 yards and caught 1 pass for 17 yards during the win.
