Basketball Recap: Layla Keith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri-Central over Delphi Community

Tri-Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delphi Community Oracles. The Trojans lost against the Oracles in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-37 score last time.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layla Keith, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 17 points. That's the most points Keith has posted since back in December of 2024. Logan Creason was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Tri-Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Delphi Community's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddy Brown, who posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and eight assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Perry, who went 6 for 8 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Tri-Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Delphi Community, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-14 record.

Tri-Central has already played their next game, a 53-29 loss against Daleville on the 4th. As for Delphi Community, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-27 defeat against North Montgomery on the 4th.
