Scott is 9-1 against Sherman since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Skyhawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Tide at 7:00 p.m. Scott is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Scott will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against WestSide on Friday. The Skyhawks were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Renegades. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Renegades: they've now won six in a row.
Carter McClung and Jacob Carrico made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McClung tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Carrico tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. McClung has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, McClung went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Carrico went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Carrico a new career-high.
In other batting news, Louden White was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Blayne Kuhn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Scott always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as WestSide only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Sherman's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln County on Saturday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Scott's record is now 18-6-2. As for Sherman, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Sherman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Scott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Sherman, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Scott's hitters?
Scott took their victory against Sherman when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skyhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
