The Midland Park Panthers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Parsippany Redhawks at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Midland Park, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-43 loss to Cresskill. While losing is never fun, Midland Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Cresskill is ranked 12th).
Meanwhile, Parsippany was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 57-52 to Butler. Parsippany has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Parsippany saw an underclassman step up: Thomas Niedermaier scored 19 points along with six steals. Niedermaier scored a full 36.5% of Parsippany's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arthur Smith, who scored 16 points.
