The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Glenelg 58-25 at home. Hammond has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.
Leading Hammond to victory were Sara Yarnell and Nia Green. Yarnell dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds, while Green dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Delani Thomas, who scored four points along with two steals.
Hammond's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.4 points. As for Glenelg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
Hammond will head out on the road to challenge the Scorpions at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Oakland Mills and the Golden Bears are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Glenelg, they will be playing at home against the at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Marriotts Ridge comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
