The Laguna Creek Cardinals waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against River City by a score of 69-57. Given Laguna Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while River City is ranked 719th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nickolas Rodriguez, who scored 18 points. Tomas Montoya was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Laguna Creek will head out on the road to take on Monterey Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Averaging 76.78 points so far this season, Monterey Trail's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Laguna Creek better be ready for a challenge. As for River City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Kennedy at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
