The Horizon Hawks will challenge the Bloomingdale Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Horizon will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Horizon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Durant 3-1.
Denver Patton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Horizon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Patton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another was Luis Covault, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bloomingdale earned a 7-2 victory over Lakeland on Wednesday.
The team relied heavily on Mason Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2025. Saul Aponte was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Bloomingdale's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Horizon, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Horizon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bloomingdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Horizon might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Bloomingdale when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
