In what's become a running theme this season, the Union City Indians gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. Everything went their way against Mississinawa Valley as Union City made off with a 66-44 win. The win was some much needed relief for Union City as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading Union City to victory were Conner Walser and Jayson Connor. Walser scored 19 points along with six steals, while Connor scored 25 points along with six rebounds. Connor is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Angel Nieto, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Mississinawa Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aron Hunt. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunt has scored all season. Kyle Wehrkamp was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
The win got Union City back to even at 9-9. As for Mississinawa Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-18.
Union City is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Union City's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Mississinawa Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Twin Valley South at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Mississinawa Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
