6A District 10 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Lake Gibson extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 10 this week by beating Kathleen, 15-13. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Braves.
Winter Haven was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Lake Wales. The Blue Devils came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
Lake Gibson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trey Congdon threw for 237 and one touchdown and Jordan Smith had 116 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Brown chipped in 120 yards. Brown helped Lake Gibson's passing attack out by catching three balls for 45 yards.
Lake Gibson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Congdon has thrown for 1700 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Eric Carter has 44 catches for 691 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 1072 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bartow takes on Winter Haven. As it stands, the Yellow Jackets are in fourth, while Charlie Tate's team is in second.
