At the plate, Fishers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Strole, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Strole a new career-high.
Terre Haute South Vigo hit Columbus North with a five-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bull Dogs fell just short of the Braves by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bull Dogs have lost by just one run.
Dillon Long was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brock Kintner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jack Whaley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Fishers' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus North, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Columbus North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fishers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315.
